10 Least Popular Dog Breeds

Looking to expand your pet family with a rare breed of dog? We've asked an expert at the American Kennel Club to share ten lesser-known breeds with a bit of information on how they originated.
1. The Norwegian Lundehund
The Norwegian Lundehund has several unique characteristics in combination not found in any other dog, including six toes on each foot, ears that fold closed, forward, and backward at will, and the ability to tip their head backwards until it touches their back bone, says AKC spokesperson Lisa Peterson.
These physical traits all helped the breed perform its original job as a Puffin hunter. When the bird became a protected species in the 1800s, the breed numbers dwindled. They were saved from near-extinction after World War II in Norway, Peterson shares, but their numbers today remain limited. Their even temperament, small size and charming personality makes them a wonderful, easy-to-live-with pet.
2. Dandie Dinmont Terrier

Landry Thompson, 13, has been dancing since she was 7. For the past few years, she has dreamed of traveling to Houston to dance with well-known hip hop dancer Chachi Gonzales at Planet Funk Academy.
Over the weekend, Thompson's parents, instructor and dance partner made her dream come true. Landry flew to Houston from her Tulsa, Okla., home on Saturday and met up with Hurd, 29, and her dance partner Josiah Kelly, 22.

2015 Ford Mustang Hits the Web

Wait no longer pony car faithful — the 2015 Ford Mustang has arrived (at least we think). According to a number of sources originating from SVTPerformance, this is the new Mustang in the flesh on the upcoming issue of Autoweek. And it looks handsome, sort of.
As we knew, the Mustang would be shedding most of its retro exterior in place of something a bit modern. On the front we see many cues from the Evos Concept, proving that some previous renderings were actually close to the real thing. On the back it’s a bit different, the retro lights stayed in place, with a questionable makeover for the rear.

From the side it’s clear to see that the new Mustang received a much needed weight loss. Although, we can’t help but notice that the large front, rear and wheels seem a bit out of place with the new body.

A flurry of trades, signings and agreements highlight wild day in MLB

Nine-and-a-half years later, Carlos Beltran was back in Kansas City on Tuesday, hosted by an organization that had traded him away and continued its path into the wilderness, that once viewed his worth on the trade market as its way back to relevance and now views his worth in their lineup as its way back to relevance. The Royals reportedly have offered to Beltran as much as $48 million over three years, or a little less than Beltran made in his first four seasons with the New York Mets, all those many years ago.
And that was just the start of Tuesday, which culminated with the Yankees doing a very Yankee thing: agreeing withJacoby Ellsbury on a seven-year, $153 million deal. It was quite a day in Major League Baseball. Actually, it was more like a week in Major League Baseball.

Lupica: Was fatal Metro-North train crash caused by human or equipment error?

NYC PAPERS OUT. Social media use restricted to low res file max 184 x 128 pixels and 72 dpi

JAMES KEIVOM/NEW YORK DAILY NEWS

National Transportation Safety Board member Earl F. Weener (center), addresses a news conference Monday about Sunday's fatal Metro-North derailment, while Sen. Charles Schumer (right) of New York and Sen. Richard Blumenthal of Connecticut listen. Weener said the board has yet to determine if it was human or equipment failure that caused the accident.

There were two red-and-white Mantis cranes near the train cars still on their sides between the tracks and the water, and a John Deere backhoe and MTA workers in white helmets and yellow-and-orange slickers, and Emergency Service Unit cops, the photographers and television cameramen shooting all of it from up above, behind the railings at Half-Moon Overlook.
This was the morning after the Sunday morning when four people died because the 5:54 Hudson Line train out of Poughkeepsie was nearly going three times as fast as it should have been as it made the sharp left turn at the Spuyten Duyvil station toward the Henry Hudson Bridge.
