A dance student from Tulsa, Okla., on a trip to Houston was taken into custody on Saturday after she was discovered in her instructor's car.

Landry Thompson, 13, was visiting Houston with her dance instructor, Emmanuel Hurd, to take a series of dance classes from top industry professionals.

On the way back to their hotel with Thompson and another dancer, Hurd, who also goes by the name Emmanuel Cross, stopped at a gas station to get his bearings.

"We were on the GPS trying to figure out where the hotel was and we sat there and we dozed off," Hurd said, according to NewsOn6.com.

Teen Dancer Taken From Legal Guardian Alleges Racial Profiling

A teenage Oklahoma hip hop dancer is still shaken after her dream trip to a Texas dance studio ended up with her in handcuffs and taken to Child Protective Services and her guardians in police custody.

"They had nothing on us," dance instructor Emmanuel Hurd told ABCNews.com. "Instead of going the route they should have went, they took her to CPS. The only reason someone gave me was we were black and Landry was white."

Landry Thompson, 13, has been dancing since she was 7. For the past few years, she has dreamed of traveling to Houston to dance with well-known hip hop dancer Chachi Gonzales at Planet Funk Academy.

Over the weekend, Thompson's parents, instructor and dance partner made her dream come true. Landry flew to Houston from her Tulsa, Okla., home on Saturday and met up with Hurd, 29, and her dance partner Josiah Kelly, 22.

2015 Ford Mustang Hits the Web

Wait no longer pony car faithful — the 2015 Ford Mustang has arrived (at least we think). According to a number of sources originating from SVTPerformance, this is the new Mustang in the flesh on the upcoming issue of Autoweek. And it looks handsome, sort of.

As we knew, the Mustang would be shedding most of its retro exterior in place of something a bit modern. On the front we see many cues from the Evos Concept, proving that some previous renderings were actually close to the real thing. On the back it’s a bit different, the retro lights stayed in place, with a questionable makeover for the rear.

From the side it’s clear to see that the new Mustang received a much needed weight loss. Although, we can’t help but notice that the large front, rear and wheels seem a bit out of place with the new body.

So you think you know your world geography? Tuesday brings a challenge worthy of a “Jeopardy!” champ, while the White House once again goes into hyperactive sales mode on, well, you can probably guess.

1. The House is expected to vote Tuesday to extend for 10 years a ban on undetectable guns, including those that can now be made via 3D printers. New York Democratic Rep. Steve Israel and Sen. Chuck Schumer have alternative bills to end what they call a loophole in the law: A gun isn’t banned even if it’s got a small metal component that can possibly be removed. But the early odds are that Congress will only pass the straight 10-year extension, which both lawmakers call better than nothing. Given House rules, it needs a two-thirds approval to The Senate returns to work Dec. 9, the day the ban expires. They'll thus have just a day to act.

2. The cabinet flavor of the month (for D.C. media), Secretary of State John Kerry, splits on a three-day trip to Belgium, Moldova, Jerusalem and the West Bank. Las Vegas Strip back in business after violent crash

LAS VEGAS — The Strip’s busiest intersection was back in business Friday as police continued their search in four states for a black Range Rover whose occupants opened fire on a Maserati, causing a fiery crash that left three people dead.

The incident erupted about 4:20 a.m. Thursday after an argument at a valet stand outside the Aria resort and hotel.

The Maserati crashed into several cars at the intersection of Las Vegas Boulevard and Flamingo Road, including a taxi that burst into flames, killing the driver and his passenger as well as the driver of the Maserati. The Range Rover sped away.

Pentagon Orders F-35 Jets Grounded

The Pentagon said on Friday that it had grounded all of its stealthy new F-35 fighter jets after an inspection found a crack in a turbine blade in the engine of one of the planes.

The suspension of flights comes at an awkward time for the military, which is facing automatic budget cuts that could slow its purchases of the planes. The Pentagon grounded all three versions of the jets — for the Air Force, the Navy and the Marines — on Thursday while it investigated the problem.

Lockheed Martin, which makes the high-tech plane, said 64 of the jets would be affected. The Pentagon estimates that it could spend as much as $396 billion to buy 2,456 of the jets by the late 2030s. But the program, the most expensive in military history, has been plagued by cost overruns and delays, and it could easily become a target for budget cutters.

FDA approves Roche drug for late-stage breast cancer

(Reuters) – U.S. health regulators approved a new drug made by Swiss drugmaker Roche Holding AG for some patients with late-stage metastatic breast cancer who fail to respond to other therapies.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration said on Friday it had approved Kadcyla, also known as ado-trastuzumab emtansine, for patients whose cancer cells contain increased amounts of a protein known as HER2.

The drug’s label will carry a boxed warning, the most serious possible, of the Kadcyla’s potential to cause liver and heart damage or even death. The drug can also cause life-threatening birth defects.

Still, fewer patients in a clinical trial experienced severe side effects than those who received standard therapy.

Vatican accuses Italian media of false reports

VATICAN CITY, Feb 23 (Reuters) – The Vatican on Saturday accused the Italian media of spreading “false and damaging” reports in what it condemned as a deplorable attempt to influence cardinals who will meet in a secret conclave next month to elect a new pope.

Since Pope Benedict announced his resignation on Feb. 11, Italian newspapers have been full of rumours about conspiracies, secret reports and lobbies in the Vatican that they say pushed the pope to abdicate.

“It is deplorable that, as we draw closer to the time of the beginning of the conclave … that there be a widespread distribution of often unverified, unverifiable or completely false news stories that cause serious damage to persons and institutions,” a Vatican statement said.

Investigated allegations of pregnancy Florije Peci

Authorities in Austria and Tirana are investigating allegations that an Albanian student was ++++ually abused after waking up from a coma following a tragic bus accident.

Two parallel investigations are now underway after the family of 23-year-old Florije Peci alleged that she became pregnant as a result of a ++++ attack at the Austrian clinic where she was being treated after the bus crash last year.

Peci, a student at the Aleksander Xhuvani University in Elbasan, was severely injured in the crash near the town of Himara in southern Albania on May 22, 2012. The bus fell off an 80-metre-high cliff, killing 13 people and injuring 20 others.

Karzai orders US special forces out of Afghan province

The Afghan president has ordered US special forces to leave Wardak province within two weeks.

The decision was being taken due to allegations of disappearances and torture by Afghans considered to be part of US special forces, said a spokesman for Hamid Karzai.

The strategically significant, central province of Wardak has been the recent focus of counter-insurgency operations.

A US statement said it took all allegations of misconduct seriously.

But the US could not comment specifically on this latest development “until we have had a chance to speak with senior government officials”, the statement by a spokesman for US special forces said.
